Digital Literacy
Microsoft’s Digital Literacy curriculum is now live. The goal of the Digital Literacy curriculum is to teach basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families and their communities.
The Digital Literacy curriculum is available to everyone wanting to improve their digital literacy skills. It is easy to follow and if you have a PC at home you will be able to study on your own – or with support from your family – at any time.
Successful completion of the Digital Literacy curriculum prepares you to take a recognised qualification – the Digital Literacy Certificate – with the awarding body, OCR.
Whether you are entirely new to computing or have some experience, this curriculum will help you develop a fundamental understanding of computers. From using the Internet, to sending email, to creating a CV, the Digital Literacy curriculum helps you develop the essential skills you need to begin computing with confidence.
The Digital Literacy curriculum consists of five courses:
- Computer Basics
- The Internet and the World Wide Web
- Productivity Programmes (Word processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Databases)
- Computer Security and Privacy
- Digital Lifestyles
- These courses are in e-learning format with online assessments but are also available for download in Microsoft Word Format
From mobile phones to MP3 players to digital cameras, computers are changing our everyday lives. This course introduces you to new digital technologies, including digital audio, digital video and digital photography. It explores how these and other computing technologies are creating new career opportunities and shaping the world we live in.
TESTIMONIALS
Hi Nick
Just wanted to let you know that I have had a long chat with one of our students who was really impressed with you and your service. He said that, of all the suppliers, you were the only one that had listened to him and understood his needs. He thought you were brilliant! In fact, so much so that when Student Finance England chose a different supplier he asked us to contact them to request that he could use you instead.
Just thought I’d let you know. (I’d have copied your manager in – it’s always nice to get a pat on the back – but I can’t remember his name. Feel free to forward this!)
Rachel’s very clear, concise instruction with appropriate humour aided recall. Rachel is the epitome of what an excellent trainer should be! Fab training!
Kathryn
